Travelodge Welwyn Garden City

I've stayed in dozens of Travelodge's all over the UK and having read the reviews - and even reading the confirmation email I was a little apprehensive about this one. I needn't have been, for us it actually worked out well. Firstly, when I booked it, the website said Free Parking. This is pretty much a pre-requisite for me. I don't like to pay over the odds for a room and then have to pay to leave my vehicle on a piece of tarmac outside. However, the pre-arrival email said "Paid Parking"m being careful about which spaces etc. On arrival, I left my wife in the car (don't worry: I left the window cracked) and popped inside to find out what the deal was - or to drive off to a free street 10 minutes away. It's actually really easy - they give you a note to put on your dashboard so you can freely park in one of the un-nnumbered spaces of which there were at least 20 or more. The arrival we received from Maria was one of the friendliest we've received at a Travelodge. The room itself was fine, in fact this one had been updated recently. The hotel didn't have the smell others reported. The breakfast we didn't try. The area outside felt as safe as anywhere else. The shower was actually decent. Overall, it's a Travelodge so one needs to manage one's expectations accordingly. It's not the Ritz, it's not even a Premier Inn. It's basic, it's simple, it's no frills - and that's pretty much what you should expect for £37 on a Friday night. If all you need like us is somewhere to sleep and shower, this will do you well. If you're expectations go far beyond that, perhaps you'd be better off elsewhere - and paying for it.

I spent 4 months there, and I can honestly say (Dina, Patricia, and J )were incredible. My room was always clean, everything was organized, and they constantly checked in on me to see how I was doing. Their warmth and care extended not only to me but to everyone staying at the hotel. The hotel is in the city center, close to shopping centers, restaurants, and TK Maxx, so ordering food is very easy. There’s even a beautiful green area nearby, like a big park. I’ll definitely go back and I highly recommend giving it a try — you won’t regret it! I also want to thank everyone else whose names I haven’t mentioned.

Town centre location but the rooms seem a bit run down. My mums room smelled funny and my room was ok but full of extra beds with grubby shower curtain and the pipes made noises when I ran water into sink too. But the staff were superb especially Joy… and Sophie was also very helpful. Thank you ladies!

Staff very friendly especially Maria who greeted us upon arrival. The restaurant although clean and friendly needs work doing on the staffs microwaving skills. This is our 2nd stay and both times food was over cooked in the microwave making it inedible.

A very nice Travelodge in a nice area ,all shops are nearby,the rooms are clean and decorated to a high standard,the manager was so friendly and helpful and(Dina) she makes sure your stay is the best experience you can have . A credit to the hotel ... Thank you .

Stayed four nights found the hotel to be clean just what a well run hotel should be no problems during my stay well manned staff specially Katharina patrcya Vikas would recommend hotel Allan stayed room 202 Feb 19 till Feb 22

I stayed overnight for a running event the next day. The location is fantastic with 2 car parks (not free) within 3-4 minutes walk. The town centre is on the doorstep with many food outlets and a large Sainsbury’s very close. The room itself was adequate for my needs with a double bed, a decent shower/bathroom, a kettle with coffee/tea/long life milk. Their kitchen was out of action so I got dinner outside and left early next morning so didn’t eat any food there.

In such a nice little town, really good rooms, food is great and staff are nice
